In memory of Randy Snow, Wheelchair Athlete, Paralympian, and Olympic Hall of Fame member. I am saddened to learn of Randy’s death on November 19th while he was in El Salvador hosting a clinic. I first met Randy in 1984 when I invited him to participate in the inaugaural run of the Wheelchair Division of the Tulsa 15K. I was the Director of the Spinal Cord Injury Program at Tulsa Rehabilitation Center (Hillcrest Medical Center) and we were thrilled to coordinate efforts with the Tulsa Run officials to establish a wheelchair division.
Randy Snow and Laverne Achenbach had just competed in the Wheelchair Exhibition at the Los Angeles 1984 Summer Olympics, and we invited them to Tulsa to paticipate in the Tulsa 15K and to meet our patients, and conduct a wheelchair sports clinic for them. It was an experience that has last a lifetime for me! Thank You Randy for your inspiration.
